Hearts supporters were asked to identify an overlooked aspect, positive or negative, concerning the club. Here are some of their responses: Calum highlighted Malachi Boateng’s performance, describing him as “a revelation in midfield” who has been overlooked. He noted that attention is currently focused on Lawrence Shankland, Craig Gordon, Kenneth Vargas, managers, and analytics. Bob addressed the club’s financial situation, mentioning that Hearts recently secured a £7m loan to manage finances and repay debts. He also pointed out a £1.2m loss despite a £20m turnover. Bob attributed financial strain to rising costs and the absence of European group stage football last season, stressing the importance of ensuring financial stability given that European football is not guaranteed annually. John questioned the initial appointment of Steven Naismith as manager, stating that Naismith “should never have been given the position last season.” He attributed the team’s current standing as “second bottom of the league” entirely to the board for choosing “the cheapest and easiest option,” and asked if the board would admit this and apologize to fans. Ian drew attention to the lack of discussion surrounding the first team-squad’s absence from the remembrance service at Haymarket. He noted that even the club chaplain “had a dig at their absence” and dismissed the 5pm Rangers match as an excuse. Ian questioned who at the club made the decision, calling it “disgraceful.” Steve raised concerns about the financial burden placed on loyal fans by the board, citing compensation paid for “poor managerial appointments,” relegation, and the failure to retain or sell “millions of pounds worth of talent,” such as Josh Ginnelly, John Souttar, and Shankland. He observed that the board is fortunate to have received unreserved fan backing and suggested that the Foundation of Hearts should investigate these issues and vote accordingly.
