A missile attack attributed to Houthi forces resulted in injuries to over twelve individuals in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Israeli military reported that efforts to intercept a projectile fired from Yemen were unsuccessful, with the missile impacting a public park during the early hours of Saturday. A Houthi military spokesperson stated that their group targeted a military objective with a hypersonic ballistic missile. The Houthis, an Iran-backed rebel organization that governs north-western Yemen, initiated assaults against Israel and global maritime traffic soon after the commencement of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, asserting their actions were in support of Palestinians. Israel’s military indicates that approximately 400 missiles and drones have been launched towards the nation from Yemen since that time, with the majority having been intercepted. Following the missile strike early Saturday, Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency medical service, reported providing care to 16 individuals who were “mildly injured” by fragments of glass from broken windows in adjacent structures. Additionally, MDA stated that 14 other people received treatment for minor injuries sustained while seeking refuge in protected zones. Earlier in the week, Israel carried out multiple attacks targeting what it identified as Houthi military sites, striking ports and energy infrastructure within the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. Al Masirah TV, operated by the Houthis, indicated that nine fatalities occurred at the port of Salif and the Ras Issa oil terminal. The Houthis have pledged to persist with their assaults until the cessation of the conflict in Gaza.
