Individuals who purchased tickets for two drone light shows in Nottingham, which were subsequently cancelled, have expressed their intention to seek refunds. These events, designed to retell Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, were scheduled to display 600 drones above Trent Bridge cricket ground. However, they were called off because of strong winds associated with Storm Darragh. Previously, dissatisfied attendees had voiced complaints that their requests for monetary reimbursement were rejected. Instead, they were presented with tickets for upcoming shows, which many found either inconvenient to attend or undesirable. The organizer, Yuup, has now announced that all ticketholders will be given the option of either an alternative show or a complete refund. Storm Darragh was responsible for the cancellation of numerous events across the region, among them the A Christmas Carol drone shows, with both the Saturday and Sunday performances being called off. Clare Hodgkiss, a resident of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, who had booked for the Sunday display, stated that she was initially informed a £64 credit would be applied to her account for a March show. She subsequently threatened to contact trading standards. “I didn’t book for that, I booked for the Christmas Carol,” she said. “It felt like they are keeping the money and forcing us to go and see something we don’t want to see.” “I understand they have said refunds are available but we shouldn’t have had to do all this.” “Hopefully this has been sorted out but it’s not been right.” In a statement, Yuup declared: “We have contacted all customers individually to offer a full credit to the amount of the original show booking, and customers will now be able to claim a full refund. “We understand how disappointed customers are that the show did not go ahead as planned, and the challenge for some to make an alternative show.”All customers will be contacted via email by 23:59 GMT on 10th Dec 2024 where they will be offered the option to transfer their ticket to a future show or claim a full refund.”
