The owners of a new restaurant have reported that two men consumed steaks and seafood before leaving without settling their £155 bill on the establishment’s opening night. The incident took place at The Welsh House in Carmarthen on 25 October, during its celebratory launch, when the pair finished their meal and departed. The company, which operates four restaurants across south Wales, characterized the event as “upsetting for the whole team.” Its management has since contacted Dyfed-Powys Police, and officers have commenced an investigation. Jordan Harries, the restaurant’s general manager, commented that while staff had been enthusiastic in the lead-up to the opening, the “buzz” was subsequently tainted by the dine-and-dash. He stated, “We put a message out on social media as our hope was that it was a genuine oversight and that they would come forward and settle what they owe.” Mr. Harries also added, “We do have CCTV but didn’t want to name and shame, we just wanted them to come forward so we could draw a line under it.” A copy of the bill shows that the table’s order included two bottles of wine, starters, steaks, and Irish coffees, totaling £155.60. Mr Harries, 27, further explained that unpaid bills can represent the difference between a restaurant making a profit or a loss on a particular day. He extended his thanks for all the supportive messages they had received, remarking, “The response from the public and the whole town has been fantastic.” Post navigation Driver Rescued After Vehicle Plunges from Cornish Car Park Woman Arrested Following Wrong-Way Driving Incident on M27
