Residents have expressed dismay following the appearance of newly repainted road markings near a school that incorrectly spell “Ceep Klear”. This misspelling was observed on a recently re-patched segment of Watermoor Road in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Images of the sign, located close to Paternoster School, garnered hundreds of reactions on social media platforms, where local residents voiced concerns that this error reflects broader issues with the town’s road infrastructure. Paul Skuse, administrator of a Cirencester-focused Facebook group, shared his observation, stating: “Another top quality repair carried out.” A member of the same group commented: “Must be a joke. No one can be that bad at spelling!” Additionally, another individual expressed concern that substandard repairs were rendering the town’s roads and pavements hazardous for individuals using push chairs and wheelchairs. One man commented on the durability, remarking: “[The] ‘repair’ won’t last long enough for anyone else to notice.” Joe Harris, who serves as the Liberal Democrat leader of Cotswold District Council, stated that the error demonstrated that “the management of the roads in this county simply isn’t good enough”. Wales & West Utilities, the company responsible for executing the work, has been contacted for a statement.
