Nelson Jardim has expressed a desire for improved performance from his current Newport County squad, even as he confirmed the club possesses a “clear idea” regarding potential activity in the January transfer window. Last week, The Exiles acquired striker Geoffroy Bony, who is the son of former Manchester City and Swansea City player Wilfried Bony. The team may further strengthen their roster next month, especially given that midfielder Aaron Wildig is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. However, Jardim indicated that Newport must postpone a definitive assessment of their potential activity in the winter transfer window until closer to Christmas. “I want more from the ones I’ve got at the moment and they know that,” Jardim stated. He continued, “Obviously you’re always assessing what’s happening, what type of injuries you’ve got and we’ve just had a bad one from Wildig. That makes you think in different areas of the pitch.” “We’re also starting to assess what we’ve got at the moment but we still feel it’s a little bit early,” he added. Jardim further explained, “Towards the middle of December, we’ve got more games and we’ll have a better idea of what we need.” He concluded, “We are planning, we’ve got a clear idea of what the possibilities are. There’s a lot of work in the background that we have to do and keep assessing – sometimes it’s a day-by-day thing.” Post navigation Kilmarnock Fans Divided on Team’s Prospects After Motherwell Match Scales’ Challenging Evening at Wembley
