A significant transportation route connecting the Isle of Man’s capital with its northern area has had its planned closure rescinded, subsequent to the finalization of surveying operations. A segment of the A18 Mountain Road was scheduled for closure on Tuesday, but the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) announced that it was “no longer required.” The road had been shut for several hours on Monday to facilitate these works, which also involved closing a portion of the carriageway on two prior occasions in December. These efforts are part of a broader road safety improvement initiative. This programme will entail a month-long closure starting March 31 for resurfacing and other necessary maintenance. The DOI further indicated that Wednesday, which had been set aside as a contingency day, will now not be utilized.
