Individuals seeking frightening Halloween experiences can locate the most terrifying decorations nearby using a recently launched interactive map. The concept originated with Natasha Marriott, who observed an annual increase in visitors drawn to the eerie figures in her Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire, garden. Other enthusiasts of spooky decorations are now able to register their residences on the digital map, ensuring an abundance of frights for trick-or-treaters. According to Ms. Marriott, several of her ominous mannequins have become popular attractions for local thrill-seekers. She informed BBC Bristol that her exhibit expanded significantly after an online coffin purchase. “This (display) really got big in 2018 and it has just been getting bigger and better.“Some people love it, some people are a little bit scared of the jumping lady who jumps up and says ‘boo’ .”“She’s scared a few people, but people do come back and they love her from then on,” she stated. She now observes numerous families gazing into her garden throughout the Halloween season, until the decorations are removed on 1 November. Ms. Marriott utilizes her elaborate setup to collect donations for The Grand Appeal, a charity supporting Bristol Children’s Hospital. Dale Strong initiated the decoration of his Yate residence upon noticing his youngest son, who has autism, had developed a strong fondness for Halloween. “We were shopping one day and he really, really liked the decorations so we put a few up for him and it’s just gone from there.”“The neighbours started looking over and saying ‘this is fantastic’ and it’s grown from there over the last four years. During Saturday evenings throughout the Halloween season, Mr. Strong organizes a small disco for local children. “It’s got a bit out of hand now but we are still going to keep adding things – until I get a notice from the council saying its causing a hazard, I’m not going to stop,” he commented. Mr. Strong’s residence draws between 30 and 40 visitors nightly, and he gathers funds for a nearby special educational needs school. For updates, follow BBC Bristol on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
