Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris has confirmed that teenage midfielder Chris Rigg, an England Under-18 international aged 17, and defender Dan Ballard are poised to rejoin the squad. Both players are set to be available for the team’s Wednesday night fixture against Preston North End, following their recovery from respective injuries. Rigg, 17, had been sidelined for the goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers last Saturday due to a chest issue, but Le Bris stated he is “okay”. Ballard is also anticipated to be available after missing seven games because of an ankle problem. However, the team faces continued challenges with goalkeeper Anthony Patterson remaining an injury doubt and midfielder Jobe Bellingham serving a suspension following his red card at Loftus Road. In light of these circumstances, Le Bris discussed the necessity of squad rotation during an interview with BBC Radio Newcastle. He expressed confidence in the team’s depth, stating, “I am confident with the options we have. We will have to create something new but, with the culture we have now, it’s not a problem.” Le Bris further elaborated on the adjustment period, remarking, “We will have to adjust, to manage probably the first, the second, the third game to find the right balance but that’s life.” He emphasized the practical reality of a long season, adding, “We can’t think we can play with 11 or 12 players the whole season, it’s just normal.” While supporters might anticipate alterations to the starting line-up, the French coach affirmed that the team’s fundamental formation will remain unchanged. Le Bris explained his reasoning, saying, “We built a system, strong foundations, and I don’t want to change the structure.” Post navigation Bournemouth Supporters Share Overlooked Aspects of the Club Erin King Included in Strong Wolfhounds Lineup for Celtic Challenge Opener
