An individual characterized as “violent and manipulating” has received a custodial sentence after an incident where he punched a woman, resulting in her and her infant being covered in blood. Macauley Nesfield, aged 28, residing in Eastfield, received his sentence at York Crown Court on Wednesday, having admitted guilt to charges of coercive controlling behaviour, assault, and wounding. Nesfield had subjected the victim to a series of abusive acts spanning from 2021 to 2024, which instilled fear and prevented her from disclosing the situation. However, the specific event where he struck her head in the presence of her child prompted her to seek assistance. Nesfield received a prison sentence of two and a half years and was also given a five-year restraining order. According to North Yorkshire Police, several additional offenses, comprising six counts of assault, one count of intentional strangulation, and one count of criminal damage, will be kept on record. Detective Constable Kelly Sharp stated: “Nesfield is a violent and manipulating danger to women.“The victim in this case, like most people who are subjected to domestic abuse, was too petrified to come forward to report him to the police.“She lived in fear and was controlled and manipulated by him for many years.” Detective Constable Sharp expressed her hope that the victim could now “live in peace” with the knowledge that Nesfield could no longer inflict harm. She further added: “I hope the outcome of this case encourages other victims of abuse to come forward.” Listen to notable segments from North Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, view the most recent episode of Look North, or submit a story for consideration here.
