Stockport County’s manager, Dave Challinor, indicated that their significant 5-0 home loss to League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday could be utilized to refine their “behaviour” for the remainder of the season. This defeat followed a recent FA Cup match where they were taken to extra time by non-league Forest Green Rovers. Wycombe, known as The Chairboys, climbed to the top of the league standings, surpassing Birmingham City, thanks to their comprehensive win. Richard Kone and Fred Onyadinma each scored two goals, with Aaron Morley adding a late strike, concluding a challenging evening for Stockport, also referred to as The Hatters. This result marked the sixth instance this season across all competitions where Challinor’s squad has conceded four or more goals. “We have to use this as motivation to make sure the behaviours, if they are in need of changing, do change and see what needs to be done and where I need to be at.” he told BBC Radio Manchester. He further stated, “If we all do that individually then we all get better as a result.” Challinor praised Wycombe’s performance but suggested that the match provided clarity regarding his team’s current standing this term. “If there were any misconceptions around where we were at and what we need to do, then it’s answered some of that for some people,” he said. He elaborated on Wycombe’s effectiveness, saying, “They caused our back four all sorts of problems with direct stuff, were cute enough to put balls into really good areas, they isolated one versus one and we couldn’t deal with it or handle it well enough.” Challinor concluded, “That will tell you what we need to do and do better. “It’s about sticking together, understanding and using that as a yardstick to say if there were any misconceptions in the dressing room among players that said ‘I think I’m this’ or ‘I think I’m that’ then that’s an eye opener.” Stockport currently holds 10th place in League One, having secured only one victory in their last six league fixtures. They are set to play sixth-placed Bolton on Saturday, which will be the third of six consecutive home games.
