The Metropolitan Police has reported that a stabbing incident in south London resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two other individuals. Police officers responded to calls regarding multiple stabbings on East Street in Walworth around 10:40 GMT on Sunday. Upon arrival, three injured individuals were discovered; one man succumbed to his injuries at the location. The remaining two individuals, a man and a woman, were transported to a hospital for medical attention, and their current condition remains undisclosed. An individual, thought to be in his 60s, was apprehended at the site of the incident. Commander Peter Stevens stated: “Tragically, a man lost his life this morning, and officers are working hard to establish exactly what happened and to provide support to his family. My thoughts and sincere sympathies are with them, and with the other people injured.” Responding officers swiftly arrested one man in connection with the incident. Currently, investigations are ongoing, but no other individuals are being sought. Investigators have confirmed that they are not classifying this incident as an act of terrorism. Authorities are in the process of confirming the identity of the deceased man and notifying his next of kin. Siraj, a 46-year-old local resident who preferred not to disclose his surname, recounted seeing police vehicles and ambulances pass by while he was walking through East Street Market. He proceeded to follow them and discovered two injured individuals on the ground within the market area. “It was terrifying,” he stated, further remarking that the vicinity had “always been safe,” but he now feels “unsafe to send my kids to school.” Commander Stevens appealed to anyone who witnessed the event to get in touch with the police.
