Construction work in a Rutland town center, ongoing for multiple months, has concluded. Brooke Road, including its level crossing, has been inaccessible since July 22. This closure facilitated crucial highway and utility infrastructure projects, integral to the Brooke Road Allotments Development. According to Rutland County Council, the road is scheduled for a complete reopening on Monday, pending a level crossing inspection by Network Rail. Although initially slated for completion in October, the project experienced a delay of several weeks, leading to annoyance among local residents and businesses. A Rutland County Council spokesperson stated: “[We] would like to thank Oakham residents and businesses for their considerable patience while Brooke Road has been closed.” The road closure was necessary to facilitate the construction of 40 vital affordable residences and to expand the road between Cricket Lawns and Derwent Drive, aiming to alleviate traffic and congestion in the vicinity.
