Council Issues Warning Regarding Unlicensed Taxis Booked Via Social Media

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council is advising the public to exclusively utilize licensed taxi services throughout the holiday season. Residents have been specifically requested by the council to refrain from arranging unauthorized vehicles via social media platforms. Councillor Lyn Healing, who serves as the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for communities and public protection, stated: “We know this time of year sees increased frequency of unlicensed taxis so it is vital to take extra precautions to stay safe.” She also urged individuals to communicate any worries to the council’s licensing department. According to the council, licensed vehicles have been equipped with safety features such as dashcams and CCTV systems. Taxi marshals are scheduled to be present at Beverley’s Saturday Market on December 20th, from 20:00 GMT until 03:00, on December 21st, from 20:00 until 03:00, and on New Year’s Eve, from 22:00 until 03:00. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council has released specific advice for individuals utilizing taxi services during the Christmas and New Year period.
