The operating license for a Digbeth bar and restaurant has been suspended. This action follows a shooting incident that left a man seriously injured. West Midlands Police requested a review of the license held by the Blue Tick Bar and Grill, located on Moseley Road, subsequent to an assault that occurred on November 27. Authorities reported that a man in his 30s sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach around 00:20 GMT and was transported to the hospital. Birmingham City Council’s licensing sub-committee concurred that the suspension was necessary to facilitate an investigation into the “serious crime.” The individual’s injuries were determined not to be life-threatening. The establishment, known as The O and K CafĂ© but operating as The Blue Tick Bar and Grill, possessed a license permitting alcohol sales from 12:00 to midnight, every day of the week. On November 28, Supt Emily Richards stated in a request for the review: “A serious incident has occurred at the premises whereby a person has been seriously injured.” “The premises have not informed the police of this incident.” The police force sought the suspension of the premises’ license and the removal of the designated premises supervisor. The sub-committee approved both of these requests, and the review is scheduled to take place within 28 days of the police’s application. Law enforcement officials are urging any witnesses to the event to come forward, as inquiries are currently in progress.
