A hospital has inaugurated a “fantastic new facility” designed to accelerate patient diagnosis. This community diagnostic centre, situated at the Isle of Wight’s hospital, is anticipated to deliver “life-saving checks” for individuals managing long-term health conditions, including strokes and cancer. The services offered at the centre encompass patient examinations in areas such as cardiac physiology, respiratory physiology, sleep studies, fracture assessment, and phlebotomy. Joe Smyth, Chief officer of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, stated that the establishment would “reduce the number of times people will have to come to hospital”. Additionally, the unit will provide diagnostic imaging services, including ultrasound, CT scanning, and plain film X-ray. A staff member expressed positive sentiment, describing the centre as “such a lovely place to work” and noting that it was “really lovely to see patients filling in the seats”. Vicky Lauchlan, Chief operating officer at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, confirmed that the new centre has generated more than 40 employment opportunities. She remarked: “Existing and new staff, who have been recruited locally, have benefitted from apprenticeships and other training and development schemes to ensure we have the workforce, along with our fantastic new facility, to provide the very best care to our patients.” Mr. Smyth further commented: “The new centre will transform the way Islanders will be able to access the diagnostic care they need and reduce the number of times people will have to come to hospital.” Lara Alloway, chief medical officer of NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, highlighted the benefits, stating: “This is great news for patients living on the Island who will see speedier access to vital tests and scans, which are needed to ensure people receive the care they need in a timely way.” Post navigation Public invited to share pharmacy experiences in new study Residents voice concerns regarding hospital parking
