Reaction to Gary Rowett’s Appointment at Oxford United

BBC Radio Oxford has released a special edition of its Oxford United podcast, ‘The Dub,’ which includes Gary Rowett’s initial interview as the club’s new manager. Oxford United chairman Grant Ferguson stated that the recent managerial alterations, involving Rowett succeeding Des Buckingham, were implemented for the overall benefit of the club. He remarked, “It is no way disrespectful of what Des has achieved.” Ferguson further added, “But we live in the here and now. We’re very sure we have the right guy for the here and now in Gary, he was top of the list from the very beginning.” Addressing the announcement concerning Buckingham’s dismissal, he commented, “We need to learn as well, was it a bit blunt? In hindsight I think it was.”
