National Highways has announced the implementation of lane closures and speed restrictions on a bridge currently receiving “essential maintenance”. Maintenance work on the westbound bridge joints of the A14 Orwell Bridge is presently underway in the vicinity of Ipswich. The westbound carriageway is subject to a 40mph (54km/h) speed limit until repairs conclude, and one lane spanning the bridge will be shut down due to safety considerations. Additional work is scheduled to take place over two nights, commencing on Wednesday, from 20:00 to 06:00 GMT; however, all lanes will remain accessible throughout the daytime hours.
