Domestic gas prices are scheduled to decrease by 13.8% starting 1 January, following an assessment conducted by the industry’s regulatory body. Households served by Isle of Man Energy can expect an average annual reduction of £156 on their bills, as tariffs are adjusted from 11.33p to 9.76p per unit. This adjustment comes after the Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority (Cura) completed its semi-annual review of charges. The energy supplier stated that this marks the third tariff reduction in 2025, attributing it to “changes in commodity prices on the global energy market”. Aidan Baglow, the managing director, commented that the decision was “great news for our customers, particularly in the middle of the winter heating period”. Established in 2020, Cura functions as a regulator tasked with examining the tariffs and profitability of the energy provider. Isle of Man Energy is legally obligated to maintain its total returns within the limits established by the watchdog, preventing the accumulation of excessive profits. In an official statement, the authority indicated that its review considered both commodity price and demand projections provided by the island’s sole energy company. The subsequent scheduled evaluation is slated for June 2025, with any resulting modifications planned for implementation for customers in the subsequent month.
