A nature reserve in Lincolnshire has recorded the birth of the first grey seal pup of the current season. The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust reported that the pup was initially observed at Donna Nook on Tuesday, accompanied by five adult female seals (cows) and four adult male seals (bulls). This reserve features extensive dunes and a shoreline, situated between the areas of North Somercotes and Saltfleet. Annually, from late October through December, hundreds of seals gather on the shore to deliver their young. The location is a popular and distinctive destination for visitors, who can observe the fluffy, big-eyed pups looking out from the dunes while watching from a designated viewing area. The trust provides a set of guidelines on its official website, designed to ensure visitor safety and minimize disruption to the seals. Audiences can access highlights from Lincolnshire via BBC Sounds, view the most recent episode of Look North, or submit potential news stories for coverage. Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
