An individual in his 30s has been taken into custody following firearm threats reported in a city centre. Authorities were alerted around 10:15 GMT regarding a man who allegedly brandished a gun in a Gloucester shop and subsequently departed on a bicycle. Armed officers were dispatched, leading to the closure of Barton Street as law enforcement conducted a search for the individual, who was apprehended later on Spa Road. Inspector Ash Gardner of the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team described the event as “terrifying for those involved”. Inspector Gardner further stated: “We have acted quickly to locate and arrest an individual in connection with this incident.” He also noted that “Officers will be patrolling the area in order to reassure the public and will be happy to talk to anyone who has any concerns.” Law enforcement personnel located the suspect in Gloucester Park during their search before proceeding with an arrest on Spa Road. The charges include suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and robbery. Subsequently, an imitation firearm was found at a property in Gloucester. Gloucestershire Police reported that no physical injuries were believed to have occurred. The individual who was arrested is currently being held in custody as investigations proceed.
