Swindon, a town in Wiltshire, is scheduled to host a half marathon in 2025, marking its return after a six-year absence. This event will be the first 13.1-mile competition held in Swindon since 2019 and will be managed by RunThrough, a new organizing body known for staging races throughout the UK. The race is slated for 28 September and will feature a course encompassing local countryside and villages. Councillor Jim Robbins, who leads Swindon Borough Council, described the event as “fantastic” and stated that it would commence and conclude at Coate Water Country Park. He further commented, “No doubt there’ll be strong interest from runners across the region keen to experience this brand new event.” The designated course will guide participants through the villages of Wanborough and Badbury, close to Chiseldon, and will also follow The Ridgeway. Matt Wood, a co-founder of RunThrough, characterized the event as “a thrilling addition to our event roster”. He added, “Swindon’s unique blend of city and countryside provides a perfect backdrop for runners of all abilities. We’re looking forward to seeing this event become a local favourite and a real standout in the UK’s running calendar.” Previously, a half marathon organized by a different entity was planned for Swindon in 2021 but was called off 11 days prior to its scheduled date. Registration for the event has already been initiated by RunThrough. Post navigation Rangers Manager Clement Downplays Title Talk After Draw Hearts’ Conference League Exit Prompts Strong Fan Reactions
