The feedback submitted by islanders regarding the future of Guernsey’s two harbours has been made public. Residents have received thanks for their initial contributions to the draft Local Planning Brief (LPB) concerning St Peter Port and St Sampson Harbour. The document proposes 18 policies addressing areas such as transportation and parking, flood risks, and the creation of a more people-centric environment. Islanders are invited to submit additional comments to the Development & Planning Authority (DPA) until December 2nd. Deputy Victoria Oliver, president of the DPA, commented that the representations gathered so far “have provided valuable feedback”. She added, “We’ve listened to the initial representations which we’ve received and are supportive of a number of the points raised.” A public hearing for the draft LPB is provisionally scheduled for the week commencing December 9th. The draft LPB will subsequently be presented to the States in April 2025, and, if approved, will become a formal amendment to the Island Development Plan.
