The “quiet room” at Liverpool Airport, which serves Manx individuals returning from UK hospital appointments, is scheduled for relocation prior to the year’s end. This facility for transfer patients has been provided by the airport since 2017, with funding from the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group. Nevertheless, the existing location is slated for closure due to significant facility upgrades, necessitating the establishment of a temporary area during the renovation period. The permanent replacement room, positioned adjacent to an executive lounge close to the present site, is anticipated to open in late May. In September, the support group raised concerns upon learning that the initial area was intended to become a private lounge post-renovation, offering only four seats for patients. Subsequently, however, the group was assured by airport authorities that a new dedicated quiet room would be made available, alongside a temporary arrangement during the construction. This temporary area will be located post-security, across from the restroom facilities, and will feature clear signage. According to the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, this dedicated facility is “massively important” for patients traveling to the UK for medical treatment, as it provides a “haven for all patients needing peace and quiet during what can be an extremely long day”.
