Sark’s sole school is seeking its initial community governors, officials have confirmed. The island’s Education Committee stated its aim to recruit three community governors for Sark School, emphasizing the need for individuals with “a variety of skills and experience” to offer “governance, guidance and support” to both pupils and staff. The Chief Pleas recently decided to establish a board of governors responsible for the school, a move that replaces the former Board of Education, which had a wider remit. Officials indicated that these new governors will collaborate with the head teacher, an elected parent governor, and a representative from the committee. Sark School provides education for children up to the age of 13 and currently enrolls fewer than 30 pupils, with most secondary-aged children receiving their education in nearby Guernsey.
