An exhibition of fireworks became disorderly when rockets veered into the audience, striking attendees. Rhian reported that her children experienced trauma after being struck by fireworks from the presentation held at Mynyddygarreg Hall near Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, on Tuesday evening. A different mother stated that the malfunction occurred within three minutes, yet the show continued. Event organizers have been approached for a statement. Rhian recounted that she had just completed recording a segment of the display when the disorder commenced. Her son, Oliver, aged seven, sustained a hit to his neck, and her other son, Charlie, aged 11, was struck on the ear, according to her account. “They were coming towards us then going off, we didn’t know where to turn or if more were heading towards us, so we rushed back as fast as we could,” she stated. Charlie was “complaining of ear pain,” but her children were physically unharmed. Nevertheless, she further mentioned that they were all “totally traumatised” and “will never want to go and see fireworks again.” She also mentioned hearing reports of some parents being separated from their children amidst the “chaos.” Rhian observed numerous upset parents requesting refunds, but the staff appeared uninformed about the situation. The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service reported receiving a call at 19:26 GMT on Tuesday “after fireworks had flown horizontally over a crowd,” though its personnel were not required at the location. Alan Wall recounted that a spark from a firework hit the back of his daughter’s coat, and his partner, Gemma, was struck in the face. “We saw the first one skimming across the grass and exploding in front of us,” he stated. “Then there were other ones coming. I grabbed my daughter, pulled her into my chest and crouched down because they were bouncing everywhere,” he recounted. He described the quantity of fireworks that discharged into the crowd as extensive, and the departure as a frantic rush. An attendee named Emyr was struck by a firework while he and his wife, Danielle, attempted to shield their children, Sofia-Mai, aged five, and Steffan, eight years old. Danielle reported that the exhibition persisted for approximately 10 minutes, and no personnel approached to ascertain the well-being of the attendees. She further commented, “It did start off normal, was absolutely fine like any other display, until they started to go in all directions.” “[The children] were petrified. It was just full of screaming kids all around us,” she elaborated. She mentioned that numerous families found themselves trapped at the front, with parents endeavoring to shield their children. She stated that “no one has been in touch” and that no staff members offered assistance while people were “screaming and running.” Danielle confirmed that her children were extremely frightened, but fortunately, they had not sustained injuries.
