The Leigh Leopards concluded the 2024 Super League season in fifth place. The club has announced the signing of second row forward Ethan O’Neill, who will join for the 2025 Super League season. O’Neill, aged 25, is the son of Julian O’Neill, a former half-back for Leigh, London, Wigan, Widnes, and Wakefield. His most recent club was the Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup, and he was previously registered with National Rugby League (NRL) teams South Sydney Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos. Leigh’s head of rugby, Chris Chester, commented, “Ethan is an edge back rower who has played a lot of Queensland Cup and NSW Cup games in the past few seasons.” Chester added, “It was important to bring depth to the back row after the departure of Kai O’Donnell and I am looking forward to seeing how Ethan integrates into the squad.”
