A waste disposal facility in Leicestershire is scheduled for a public closure lasting up to four weeks to facilitate the execution of “essential works.” Leicestershire County Council announced that the staff building located at the Melton Mowbray recycling and household waste site requires demolition and replacement due to “health and safety grounds.” The council further stated that this structure, which houses an office, kitchen amenities, and restrooms, is “no longer up to the required standard.” Operations at the Lake Terrace site will cease starting 13 January to accommodate these works. During the closure period, the council confirmed that waste permits issued for this site would be honored at alternative Leicestershire waste facilities. Blake Pain, the authority’s cabinet member for environment and the green agenda, issued an apology for any inconvenience caused. He further stated: “We have chosen to carry out these improvement works in January as it is a quieter period for the waste sites, outside of the busy spring and summer season.”
