A staff member at a Dorset food bank has indicated that individuals who previously contributed donations are now utilizing its services. Bournemouth Foodbank distributed over 100,000 meals to people during the last year, with 24,000 of these provided to children. The organization reported an increase in first-time users and stated that some residents in the area are on the “edge of crisis.” This group offers support to families throughout Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch. John Saborido, the data officer for the group, commented that local families are experiencing growing pressure. He stated, “People that were supporting us before needed to stop and some were even accessing the food bank themselves.” He further added, “We know that people in the community are really struggling.” The food bank, which receives support from the Trussell food charity network, is conducting a Christmas crowdfunding campaign. Mr. Saborido emphasized that this campaign will be crucial for sustaining the food bank’s operations. He remarked, “Our warehouse has less than a month’s worth of food at any given time.” He also cautioned, “If donations stopped we would have to stop operating at our current levels about a month.” In addition to food distribution, the food bank offers a debt advice service and assists individuals in finding employment. Mr. Saborido reported that the demand for the food bank’s services has shown a “continuous increase” since 2017. He concluded by stating, “Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference.” Post navigation Essex DJ Begins European Tour in Custom-Built Mobile Booth Dorset’s Daily Visuals: Tuesday’s County Image
