Fleetwood Town has recorded two victories in nine matches at Highbury Stadium this season. Colchester United has denounced an alleged incident of racist abuse directed at one of its players during a League Two fixture, marking the second such occurrence this season. This accusation emerged following the U’s goalless draw against Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium on Saturday, 30 November. This follows a previous allegation of racist abuse targeting Colchester striker Samson Tovide during a 1-1 draw at Accrington in August. Colchester communicated on X that they were “very disappointed” to learn of the allegation, and affirmed they were “fully supporting Fleetwood in their investigations along with the police”. Fleetwood stated on their website, external, that they “take all reports of discrimination incredibly seriously and are fully cooperating with Lancashire Constabulary who are now investigating the matter”. The club further commented that they “stand side by side” with the English Football League (EFL) in upholding a “zero tolerance to tackling racism within the game”.
