Bournemouth, having largely gone unnoticed for most of this season, recently accumulated seven points from a potential nine in a series of matches against three Champions League teams. This impressive run culminated in their first-ever victory over Manchester City, a team they had previously failed to conquer in 22 league and cup encounters. Concurrently, owner Bill Foley reaffirmed in his programme notes on Saturday that the club’s ambition for a larger stadium remains on schedule, as their new training ground at Canford Magna approaches completion. He has also provided his strongest indication yet that he favors the construction of a new stadium, situated close to the current ground in King’s Park, rather than undertaking redevelopment of Vitality Stadium. Foley wrote, “The hope is to transfer the players across to the new [training] site early in the next year, then we can begin to further discuss our options for stadium development.” He added, “We have been in talks regarding the construction of a new ground on the current training pitches. We think this is the best route for us to take and we continue to explore the costs of doing so, while engaging in meaningful discussions with the council.” A further consequence of the Cherries’ improved form will be heightened transfer speculation surrounding their prominent players. Individuals such as Antoine Semenyo, Milos Kerkez, and Illia Zabarnyi are likely to attract interest from prospective buyers with greater financial capacity than Foley. However, after the summer transfer of Dominic Solanke significantly boosted the club’s finances, there is no financial necessity to sell players. Thus, while Andoni Iraola’s squad continues to surpass expectations and overcome challenges as they aim for a top-half league finish, fans will be hoping the team remains unchanged through January, even if a highly attractive offer for a player materializes next summer.
