A fruit seller in Walworth, south London, Adam Kadirzadah, has recounted the incident where his customers were attacked with a knife directly in front of him, resulting in one fatality. Speaking to BBC London, Mr. Kadirzadah detailed how an individual approached the shoppers from behind. Mr. Kadirzadah stated, “It was a nice morning, there were a lot of customers in the market, it was a busy time.” He continued, describing the scene: “The guy was shouting out with a big knife… It was really shocking, I couldn’t sleep all night. It was really bad.” The assault on Sunday morning resulted in the death of one man. Additionally, a man and a woman were transported to a hospital; their current medical status remains undisclosed. An individual, thought to be in his sixties, was apprehended at the location of the incident. This article contains detail that some may find distressing. Mr. Kadirzadah informed BBC London, “We had a few customers at my stall, they were buying the fruit for the family.” He mentioned that several individuals fled upon seeing the man wielding the knife, further stating: “The two customers we had at the front of my stall, they couldn’t see it.” He recounted, “The customer was picking up a lemon and he [the attacker] was stab-stab-stabbing. He stabbed from the back.” According to Mr. Kadirzadah, two of those attacked collapsed, and the assailant with the knife then escaped. He stated, “As soon as he left my stall, a lot of people were running after him to not let him go until the police came.” He added, “Luckily, the police came quick or it could have been more than 20 or 30 people.” Cdr Peter Stevens of the Met Police expressed his thoughts and profound sympathies to the family of the deceased man and to those who sustained injuries. He indicated that officers are diligently working to ascertain the precise sequence of events, and confirmed that no other individuals are currently being sought in connection with the assault. On Monday, the market vicinity remained cordoned off with police tape, and debris was visible across the roadway.
