A primary thoroughfare traversing Dorset was closed after two horses died in a collision with an SUV. Dorset Police reported that the horses were initially observed roaming freely on the A31 near Corfe Mullen, just before 06:45 GMT. The police force stated that officers were dispatched, but before their arrival, the horses had been struck and fatally injured by a Jeep Cherokee on the A350, south of Roundhouse Roundabout. The road was subsequently closed to traffic in both directions, extending from the A31 Roundhouse Roundabout to Sandy Lane; it was reopened for passage in both directions just before 09:15. Authorities indicated that the driver of the vehicle was not believed to have sustained any serious injuries. BBC Dorset is available for following on Facebook, X, or Instagram. Copyright 2024 BBC.
