Avon & Somerset Police reported that a BMW departed the roadway on Long Cross, located in Lawrence Weston, Bristol, hitting the child just before 14:00 GMT. An 18-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of causing severe injury through dangerous driving and operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Law enforcement officials indicated they are still working to identify a woman also seen inside the car, as both occupants had left the location. They are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses CCTV footage to make contact by calling 101. Witnesses informed officers that the woman had blonde hair and was attired in a black puffer coat, blue jeans, and light-coloured shoes. Long Cross was closed for several hours, and numerous police, fire, and ambulance teams were dispatched to the site.
