Authorities are currently seeking Pankaj Lamba, the husband of Harshita Brella, whose body was discovered in the boot of a vehicle. Investigators suspect Mr Lamba murdered Ms Brella, aged 24, in Northamptonshire earlier this month. It is believed that Mr Lamba subsequently transported her body by car to Ilford, east London, before potentially leaving the country. Chief Inspector Paul Cash of Northamptonshire Police issued an appeal, stating: “I urge anyone listening to or reading this statement, that if you saw anything suspicious in the past week or have any information, no matter how small, please contact us.” Ms Brella, a resident of Corby, Northamptonshire, was located by officers inside a vehicle on Brisbane Road, Ilford, during the early hours of Thursday. The discovery of her body and the subsequent initiation of a murder inquiry followed Northamptonshire Police receiving a welfare concern report on Wednesday. The police force confirmed it has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior interactions with Ms Brella. The Northamptonshire Telegraph initially reported that Ms Brella had been subject to a domestic violence protection order, which was reportedly issued in early September for a duration of 28 days. Police have since verified that this order was active prior to Ms Brella’s demise. Chief Inspector Cash characterized Ms Brella as a young woman in her early 20s, with her entire life ahead of her and much to live for. He commented, “It is absolutely tragic that her life has been cut short in this way.” The East Midlands Special Operations Major Crime Unit (EMSOU MCU) and Northamptonshire Police are collaborating with the Metropolitan Police to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding Ms Brella’s death. This joint effort aims to pinpoint the precise location and timeframe of the incident, according to the unit. Northamptonshire Police reported that a forensic post-mortem examination, conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday, confirmed Ms Brella’s death was a murder. The force announced that additional neighbourhood officer patrols would be deployed in Corby over the next few days to provide public reassurance.
