Developers have put forward proposals for the construction of a 26-story apartment building in Glasgow, intended to house 410 students. Graham Investment Projects has submitted the planning permission application for this structure, which is planned for the Anderston area of the city. An existing four-story office building on Hydepark Street, situated near the River Clyde and immediately west of the Kingston Bridge, is slated for demolition to make way for these student residences. The developers aim to incorporate amenities such as storage for over 200 bicycles, outdoor terrace areas, a cinema, and a lounge area for students. They characterized the building as an “elegant slim-line tower,” stating that its design draws inspiration from the Seagram building, a 38-story skyscraper located on Park Avenue in New York. The project was also presented as a “significant opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site in a highly accessible location within Glasgow.” Furthermore, the developers stated: “Critically, the development addresses a well-documented need for student housing in Glasgow, supported by evidence of increasing student numbers.”
