League leaders Exeter Chiefs secured a 29-19 away win against bottom-placed Sale Sharks, maintaining their perfect record in the Premiership Women’s Rugby season. Sabrina Poulin and Ebony Jefferies were among the try-scorers for Exeter Chiefs in this match. This seventh consecutive victory gives the Chiefs an eight-point advantage over second-ranked Harlequins. Harlequins narrowed the points difference by achieving a narrow 15-14 win over fifth-placed Saracens in Sunday’s concluding fixture. Bristol Bears currently sit in fourth position after their 26-7 home triumph against Trailfinders on Saturday, while Loughborough Lightning defeated Leicester Tigers 36-24 in the other game played over the weekend. Sale, positioned at the bottom of the league, initiated the scoring in the seventh minute with a try from Trysh Harper at home against Exeter, as they sought to break a five-game losing streak. The Chiefs quickly responded with tries from Mikiela Nelson, Ebony Jefferies, and Sabrina Poulin. Although Sale’s Lizzy Duffy scored to reduce Exeter’s lead, the league leaders established a 10-point lead by halftime, following a penalty try awarded in first-half stoppage time. Katie Buchanan scored in the corner early in the second half, further extending Exeter’s lead. They successfully managed the remainder of the game, despite Holly Thorpe scoring Sale’s third try with three minutes left. In the Harlequins versus Saracens match, unconverted first-half tries by Beth Wilcock and Lizzie Hanlon put Harlequins in a commanding position. Wilcock then scored her second try after the break, building a 15-0 lead. Saracens (Sarries) retaliated with tries from May Campbell and Zoe Harrison, but the home team could not complete their comeback, resulting in their second loss of the season. Bristol Bears’ bonus-point victory against Trailfinders on Saturday temporarily elevated them to third place in the standings before Harlequins subsequently moved ahead of them. Emma Orr’s initial try provided the Bears with an early lead, but the visiting team equalized through a powerful finish by Tyson Beukeboom. Rownita Marston-Mulhearn scored just before halftime, allowing Bristol to regain the lead, which Sarah Bern then extended after the interval. Amber Reed scored and converted her own try, securing the bonus point and marking the Bears’ second consecutive win. Meanwhile, Trailfinders dropped to seventh place after Loughborough earned a bonus point in their derby win against Leicester, who remain without a victory. Tess Feury converted an early penalty, giving Leicester (Tigers) the lead, but Loughborough scored their opening try via Krissy Scurfield. England centre Meg Jones responded with an impressive interception try, putting the Tigers back in front, before Lightning equalized once more through Kendall Waudby. Emily Scarratt and Tahlia Body then exchanged tries, preceding Kathryn Treder’s score from a rolling maul, which secured Loughborough the bonus point and a 26-17 lead at halftime. Debutant Alev Kelter scored Lightning’s fifth try around the hour mark to seal their victory. Leicester (Tigers), who remain in eighth position, scored a late consolation try through Catha Jacobs. Amber Reed was one of four Bristol players who scored tries in their victory over Trailfinders.
