Plans have been approved by Wiltshire Council for a new therapy and healing center to be established at a country estate. This center will be situated within the Grade II Listed Tithe Barn on the Bowden Park Estate, located near Chippenham. The Bowden Park Estate was listed for sale in 2020 with a guide price of £35 million and subsequently acquired by new owners. The new owners intend to dedicate the facility to assisting individuals with “mental health, physical health, nutrition, low-impact living, community and recovery.” According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the therapy and healing center will be situated within a farm complex adjacent to the estate’s primary residence. The completion date for the work remains undetermined. The submitted application indicated: “Dating from the 1800s, the Tithe Barn has suffered much damage and repair over the course of its lifetime, including a phase of reroofing in the 1960s.” The application further noted: “The barn is understood to have been empty and redundant for approximately 30 years.” The entire estate encompasses approximately 68 acres of parkland, 303 acres of arable land, 59 acres of pasture, and 186 acres of woodland, all surrounding the 22 acres of grounds belonging to the Georgian house.
