Gabriel Charles, 19, of Lympstone Gardens in Southwark, has been charged with the murder of Jesse Lloyd-Smith, who was fatally shot in Peckham in July. This marks the second teenager to face charges in connection with the killing. Charles was charged on Thursday and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court at a later time. Previously, on 2 August, a 17-year-old male was also charged with murder. Additionally, four other individuals are facing accusations of perverting the course of justice. Mr. Lloyd-Smith, aged 20, sustained a gunshot wound in East Surrey Grove just before 17:00 BST on 10 July. He succumbed to his injuries in the hospital the subsequent day. Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who is heading the investigative team, issued a statement saying: “Our team remains resolute in securing justice and we need the public’s help to do so.“I am grateful to all those who have come forward so far but would ask anyone with information – no matter how insignificant you think it might be – to get in contact as this could prove to be crucial.” Chaise, Mr. Lloyd-Smith’s sister, commented: “It’s been over four months without Jesse and we believe that there are still people living within this community who are sitting on the truth.“Now is the time to come forward.” For further content, listeners can access the best of BBC Radio London on Sounds and engage with BBC London across its platforms on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
