Trevor Bayliss, who commenced his coaching career with New South Wales in 2004, has concluded his tenure as London Spirit coach, having led The Hundred franchise for three seasons. The former England coach took over from the late Shane Warne in 2022 and guided Spirit to the Eliminator in his initial season. However, the subsequent two seasons proved more challenging, with the team finishing second-bottom and then bottom, securing only three victories from 16 games across both years. The Australian’s contract expired at the close of the 2024 season. London Spirit general manager Fraser Stewart expressed gratitude for Bayliss’s contributions, stating: “We’d all like to thank Trevor for his considerable efforts across the last three seasons. He initially joined us in difficult circumstances and led the side to a strong finish in 2022, but the team hasn’t been able to replicate that success since. As a group we’re desperate to see London Spirit competing at the right end of the table and we think a new approach may be of benefit to our chances. Trevor leaves Lord’s with our best wishes and our gratitude.” Bayliss coached England from 2015 to 2019, famously leading the side to a victory over New Zealand at Lord’s to secure the Cricket World Cup in 2019. He had previously guided Sri Lanka to the 2011 final, where they were defeated by co-hosts India. His coaching experience also includes spells with the Australian Big Bash side Sydney Sixers, as well as Indian Premier League teams Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings. In related news, Spirit confirmed that Ashley Noffke will continue in his role as head coach of the women’s side, having led them to their first Hundred title in 2024.
