St Johnstone head coach Simo Valakari provided his comments following the 3-1 defeat against St Mirren. He described the outcome as a “Tough one, tough result,” explaining that his team encountered numerous instances during the match where they were unable to manage their opponent effectively. Valakari specifically pointed to the start of the second half, where he felt “the pressure was just too much.” Valakari further elaborated on the team’s difficulties, stating, “We knew there would be moments where we need to suffer. And we did suffer, but when we got a little bit high up the field, we lose the ball and, boom, it came back quickly.” Despite the result, the head coach expressed commendation for his players. “I’m proud of my players. We wanted to test ourselves. I think we did some very good things, in the first half, especially,” he remarked. He also acknowledged the effect of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decisions, adding, “Two goals taken out by VAR takes a little bit of energy out of you. But that’s part of football now.” Concluding his remarks, Valakari noted the sentiment within the team, observing, “Very disappointed players in the changing room. But nothing changes. Tomorrow morning, we practice.”
