Tommy Fury is set to return to the boxing ring on January 18 in Manchester, facing former UFC star Darren Till, following a break of over a year from the sport. Fury had previously paused his boxing career to participate in the reality television program Love Island. The boxer, who is the half-brother of former heavyweight world champion Tyson, last competed in October 2023, securing a points victory against fellow social media personality KSI. The 25-year-old cruiserweight is scheduled to compete against Till at Co-op Live, an arena located in Fury’s hometown. Fury stated, “It feels great to, finally, say that I am back. I have been out of the ring far too long.” He added, “This is extra special as I am the A-side and headlining a massive event in my hometown and in front of my fans.” Before his victory over KSI, which took place at Manchester’s AO Arena, Fury had defeated YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul via split decision in Saudi Arabia in February 2023. Paul, aged 27, recently defeated 58-year-old former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in a contentious match held in Texas on Friday. Fury maintains an undefeated record across his 10 professional fights; however, his win against KSI was not sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control. The upcoming bout with Till is similarly organized under the Misfits promotional banner and will not receive licensing from the Board. Till, a 31-year-old from Liverpool, concluded his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) career with a record of 18 wins, five defeats, and one draw across 24 fights. He was released by the UFC in March 2023. In his boxing debut, he secured a technical knockout victory over Mohammad Mutie, a match that was notably disrupted by a large altercation after its conclusion. Fury further commented, “Till had a good UFC career, but he is stepping into the boxing ring now, against a proper pro, and he will quickly realise that he is out of his depth, and this is not the game for him.” He also stated, “I plan on dealing with Till in conclusive fashion and then chasing even bigger fights in 2025.” Till responded by saying, “January 18 is my time, my night.”
