Two teenage brothers have been charged with attempted murder following a machete assault on an off-duty police officer. The Metropolitan Police officer sustained stab wounds in Luton town centre on Saturday, November 2, at 13:10 GMT. Hannan Mahmood, 19, and Humar Mahmood, 18, both of Belmont Road, Luton, were apprehended on Friday. They were charged in connection with the attack and a robbery, and were subsequently remanded in custody after appearing at Luton Magistrates’ Court over the weekend. The brothers also face accusations of wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article in a public place, robbery, and dangerous driving. Police are appealing for information and footage related to the incident, which took place on George Street, outside the Luton Point shopping centre.
