An individual has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a fatal shooting and the critical injury of another person in Birmingham. Law enforcement officers discovered the deceased man, identified as being in his 20s, in a car, while the second injured individual was located at a nearby bus stop, seemingly after attempting to escape the assailant. Authorities responded to Rotton Park Road in Edgbaston shortly before 23:00 GMT on Friday. The individual suspected, who is in his 30s, is currently being held in custody as police persist in their search for evidence at the location. Mohammed Faisal, a resident living close to the cordon established on Rotton Park Road, reported that he was watching television when he heard gunshots. He stated that he heard two shots, followed shortly by a third. He recounted, “Five minutes later I saw the blue lights turn up and I knew something bad had happened.” He added, “We get a lot of crashes by the junction here, so I wondered if it was that at first but then it became obvious it wasn’t.” He further expressed, “It’s extremely worrying especially when you have children living here like I do. You don’t want something like this happening near your home.” West Midlands Police also stated that the injured man, who is in his 30s, was transported to a hospital, where his condition remains critical. Detective Inspector Nick Barnes commented, “This is a tragic incident, and we have worked through the night to understand exactly what happened.” He continued, “We’ve already made good progress and arrested a suspect, but I still need to hear from anyone who was in the area that we’ve not already spoken to.” He urged, “Anyone with dashcam footage or mobile phone footage from the area at the time is being urged to contact the force.” He concluded, “We really need to hear from you so that we can build as clear a picture as possible of what happened.” Post navigation 22-Year-Old Man Dies Following Two-Vehicle Collision 70-Year-Old Man Dies Following Quad Bike Crash
