The site of a former pub in Sheffield is slated for demolition to facilitate the construction of a new care home. The city council has granted approval for the Wordsworth Tavern site in Parson Cross to be razed, with a 68-bed residential care facility to be erected in its place. According to planning documents, the forthcoming care home is envisioned as “luxurious” and will incorporate landscaped gardens. The application stated, “There is a clear need for the site to be developed to increase the quality of a building that serves the community.” Developer Life Property Construction also outlined plans for the Margetson Crescent location, including the creation of 17 parking spaces and two bays designated for disabled access. The Local Democracy Reporting Service indicated that the care home is intended to provide accommodation for individuals requiring nursing, dementia, or residential care. Public feedback on the planning application included one objection from a neighbour, alongside four letters submitted in support of the proposed development.
