The Metropolitan Police announced that Heaven, a well-known London nightclub, has been shut down due to public safety concerns following a reported rape. The police force successfully petitioned Westminster Council to temporarily revoke the operating license for the Villiers Street establishment, pending a comprehensive hearing. During an initial hearing held on Friday, the council received information that a woman was reportedly raped near the premises on November 1, with a security staff member implicated. The Met confirmed that an individual from the security team has been apprehended and charged with rape, and is currently being held in prison on remand. The Metropolitan Police stated that the suspension is effective immediately, resulting in Heaven’s closure starting Friday night. Furthermore, testimony at the hearing indicated that when the woman attempted to report the incident, other staff members reportedly disregarded her. A spokesperson for the council issued a statement: “Following a request from the Metropolitan Police, and considering evidence from both the police and the operator, the council’s licensing committee has decided to suspend Heaven’s licence for 28 days.“We recognise this venue’s cultural significance but the committee agreed this step is necessary to prevent serious crime and protect the public.“A full licensing hearing will be held in December where both the police and venue management will have the opportunity to present new evidence.”This case is currently subject of an ongoing police investigation, and we are unable to comment further at this stage.” Heaven conveyed its response via an Instagram post, stating: “We are sickened by this allegation but can’t comment as it is an on going criminal investigation. We can only send out thoughts to the alleged victim.” Post navigation Death Reported Following Residential Blaze in Greater Manchester Mobile Youth Club Launched to Support Young People
