The Barbara Hepworth sculpture, ‘Dual Form,’ a cast bronze piece, has been temporarily transferred from its St Ives location to Redruth. Its previous placement outside the Guildhall necessitated relocation to Kresen Kernow, Cornwall’s archive and records centre, due to ongoing renewal works at the Guildhall. According to the St Ives Town Deal (SITD), Hepworth presented the sculpture to St Ives in 1968, following her reception of the Freedom of the Borough. She personally selected its site outside the Guildhall. The town council confirmed that Sculpture Transport UK, a specialist sculpture-moving team, was employed for the transfer. The St Ives Town Deal (SITD) further indicated that the Guildhall Renewal Project is designed to incorporate a level access entrance and a redesigned portico. Kresen Kernow, which commenced operations in 2019, occupies the former Redruth Brewery and offers both research and exhibition facilities. It safeguards over 1.5 million records, covering a period of 850 years, thereby commemorating Cornwall’s extensive history.
