The set design for the new film “Wicked” exhibits a notable similarity to a landmark in Sussex. Specifically, the distinctive dome windows of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion were reproduced for the movie to “create a fantasy room.” Brighton Museums communicated via social media their expectation that the film would motivate individuals to visit the renowned structure. They noted that production designer Nathan Crowley confirmed to Architectural Digest his inspiration to replicate the “onion” dome’s windows for Shiz University in the film. Hedley Swain, the chief executive of Brighton & Hove Museums, stated: “The Royal Pavilion is an amazing, stunning building which has inspired many artists, film-makers and designers throughout its history.” He added, “We welcomed the team from Wicked to the building and they loved the Indian-style exterior and Chinese inspired interior. “It is wonderful to see how they have used the historic windows and domes to create a fantasy room for key scenes in the film. “We hope lots of people watch the film and then come to visit the Royal Pavilion.”” For updates, follow BBC Sussex on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
