Engineers in Guernsey have been notified of a defect affecting the Christmas lights installed along a particular street. Residents reported a problem with the illuminations on Smith Street in St Peter Port, noting that not all of them were functioning. The annual switch-on event occurred on Saturday, with organizers confirming there have been “a few issues” since that time. Guernsey Electricity stated that a temporary remedy has been devised, but a more lasting repair will be prioritized for implementation in the New Year. The utility company communicated: “GEL Engineers have been made aware of a streetlight service fault in town which is affecting a small number of the Christmas lights installed along Smith Street. “The issue has been investigated and will unfortunately require works to be undertaken to deliver a permanent fix. “To avoid these works being unduly disruptive to traders and shoppers over the busy Christmas period, they will be prioritised for delivery in the New Year.”In the meantime, a temporary solution has been developed, which requires power to be taken from a different location in town.” Jax Robin, chair of the St Peter Port Christmas Lights, indicated that most of the difficulties were caused by the lights tripping. Robin further elaborated: “”Since switch on we’ve had a few issues, we have electrical faults mainly.”Everything was working once it was put up, it was working a matter of days before, but as usual problems happen.”Teams are working out there, trying to sort things out.” Post navigation Volunteer Group Transforms Home for Man Experiencing Vision Loss Lewes Bonfire Celebrations Attract Significant Crowds
