Law enforcement officials are currently investigating reports of a “nine-person brawl” that reportedly stemmed from a parking disagreement. Information regarding the altercation became public after Cambridgeshire Police released a log detailing 999 emergency calls received by its control room between 16:00 and 21:00 BST on Friday. The incident occurred in Peterborough just before 18:30 that day, with one caller reporting having observed an individual with a knife. Police indicated a suspicion of affray and confirmed that an investigation is currently in progress. During the five-hour 999 “postathon,” call handlers processed a total of 227 calls. Among these calls, one reported an ex-partner being “outside their house with petrol cans,” while another described a man “dancing” on a motorway. In a separate collection of calls, police noted one concerned a missing Amazon parcel, and another reported that someone had placed children’s toys and cushions into the top of their bin. Twenty calls were silent, with five of these believed to be “pocket” calls. In response to several of Friday’s calls, police stated: Supt Nick Church: said: “We often hear about officers on the front line, but rarely do we hear about the hard work and resilience of our control room staff, who are on hand 24 hours a day to help the public whenever they need police assistance.” He added: “This ‘postathon’ was important to raise awareness of the volume of calls we receive, but also to demonstrate the variety and complexity of some of the incidents we deal with too.” For updates on Cambridgeshire news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
